Program 1
The first program focuses on orientation of the
program, it's learning objectives, and it's
benefits to the participant and his company. The
program includes two joint sessions with
participants and mentors. During these sessions
they select the on-the-job training and mentor
sessions. Selections are based on the
participant's and company's needs.
A comprehensive review of the roles,
responsibilities, and attributes of the
superintendent on the job site and within the
construction firm is the central learning
objectives of this initial session. Also covered
are the combined roles and objectives of the
superintendent and the project manager as the
foundation for a successful project.
The initial personal development skill block is
"listening and learning." This objective is to
orient and prepare the participant to observe,
inquire, plan, act as a leader, and understand
supervision on the job through the 18-month
program.
Demonstrations, exercises, readings and
discussions involving trainees and mentors are
utilized to provide a clear understanding of the
program.

Program 2
Program 2 includes the participant's learning
and experiences on the job, including the formal
OJT experiences and mentoring sessions. Specific
interests and concerns will be addressed. A
principal objective in this session is to
sustain and expand the participant's field
observation and understanding.
Specific focus is on the technical issues of
time and cost managements skills. A key part of
the program focuses on understanding and
analyzing HVAC and plumbing systems. The CITC
provides the platform for the discussions and
exercises. Computer applications in construction
supervision and management will also be
demonstrated and used.

Program 3 continues development of planning and
problem solving skills and focuses on electrical
and life safety systems. Emphasis is also placed
on jobsite leadership and other management
techniques.

Program 4
Program 4 continues focus on technical elements
and strategies for the "project cycle" including
accounting, equipment management, project
close-out and inspections and testing.
Communication styles and skills are stressed and
used in presentation exercises. Participants
focus on their perspective for effective
personal management and ethics.
