OJT TRAINING
The corporate sponsor will provide a minimum of 30 training experiences for the component of the program, with the help of the mentor. Each experience is integrated in one or more of the SCT programs and the mentoring sessions. The mentor will coordinate and schedule the OJT learning experiences.
Experiences include:
Required
- Work with/for more than one superintendent
- Work on more than one project
- Maintain a daily journal for the term of the SCT program (18 months)
- Review the journal with the mentor (quarterly)
- Bring the journal to ITC training
- Assist in a complete Building Layout
Other Experiences include
- Review and use the jobsite horizontal and vertical controls
- Organize a jobsite storage or lay down area
- Safety
- Prepare and conduct a jobsite toolbox safety meeting
- Review the jobsite MSDS file
- Plan/coordinate self-performed work
- Be assigned to plan a work activity and direct the work
- Evaluate a (short duration) work activity
- Review and complete the Superintendent's Daily Report - 5 consecutive days
- Complete a (mock) accident/incident report
- Review and code worker time sheets
- Review cost reports (with Mentor)
- Coordinate planning of one week work plan
- Assign workspace
- Observe - direct work
- Monitor progress - production/productivity
- Review submittal plan - liaison with installer/foreman
- Help prepare an RFI
- Fax to appropriate parties
- Complete a jobsite purchase of materials/tools
- Coordinate delivery, receiving, unloading and storage of selected materials
- Review (with the Superintendent) the schedule for long-lead items
- Help update a three-week look ahead schedule
- Attend, observe, and participate in a Jobsite Scheduling Meeting
- Attend, observe, and participate in a Jobsite Subcontractor Coordination Meeting
- Attend, observe and participate in an Owner/Architect/Contractor (OAC) Meeting
- Make a list (with the Mentor) of submittal/shop drawing requirements from the specifications
- Review Shop drawing log (with Mentor)
- Review and check shop drawings (selected by Mentor)
- Review and check submittals (selected by Mentor)
- Forward submittal to appropriate parties
- Assist in planning for Quality Control/Quality Management
- Assist in inspection for Quality Control/Quality Management
- Review a pre-placement concrete pour for imbeds (or other layouts)
- Or similar layout/quality control requirement
- Provide a needed sketch for a detail for a particular work activity
- Review Inspection reports
- Conduct Inspection - limited scope
- Coordinate Inspection - external
- Help prepare a Scope for a Subcontract
- Review and evaluate a subcontractor back charge
- Review and evaluate a subcontractor change order
- Interface with finish contractor
- Interface with mechanical contractor
- Review record/as-built drawings with mechanical drawings
- Interface with electrical contractor
- Coordinate electrical punch list
- Help prepare a pay estimate
- Observe the O/A review/inspection
- Assist in management/completion of punch list work
- Assist in a project close-out
- Observe a bid-day
- Observe a pre-project scheduling meeting
- Shadow the General Superintendent (Manager of Operations) for a day
- Shadow a (senior) Project Manager for a day
- Shadow the corporate Safety Director for a day
- Take, download, and caption/label digital photographs
